HISTORY OF DELTA EAST KILBRIDE

Delta Electronics established a R&D centre in East Kilbride, Scotland, in June 1997. The idea was to build a global engineering team for Delta Electronics Inc. This R&D team could support local IT companies like IBM (located in Greenock) and Compaq (located in Erskine) as well as HP who were based in Grenoble, France, or Barcelona, Spain. A small team of 3 Design Engineers were hired to start this group. The team steadily grew over the next few years as it continued to develop a wide range of different Power Supply Units for Telecom Base stations, Photocopiers, Large format printers, to name but a few applications. Business management of this small group was transferred from Delta Electronics Inc. to Delta Energy Systems in 2004 to build closer links to a larger design group in Europe. The group continued to develop a wide range of Power Supplies now including Industrial and Medical applications. These included battery charging and ultrasound products. The team in East Kilbride are now solely focused on Industrial Electric Vehicle battery charging, for Auto Guided Vehicles used in warehouses to large forklift trucks.
