New Solar System at Delta in Teningen

18.10.2007

Delta Energy Systems from Teningen in Germany puts new 40 kWp solar system into operation

Delta's new solar system consists of 175 solar modules and 11 Delta SI 3300 solar inverters with a maximum efficiency of 96%

At the end of September 2007, inverter manufacturer Delta Energy Systems put a new photovoltaic system into operation on the flat roof of its Teningen site, complementing its existing 6 kWp facility.

The 175 Tenesol solar modules occupy an area covering approximately 1400m². To provide the wiring for all 37 strings, the Delta Solar Support Team had to lay 4500 m of solar cabling.

The string concept involves connecting a number of solar modules in series (strings) and then linking these to a solar inverter.
The advantages include on the one hand reduced cabling overheads for the photovoltaic system (consequently resulting in reduced costs) and on the other higher efficiency rates thanks to the increased voltage of the strings in comparison with an individual module. The solar modules can therefore be interlinked taking the optimum input voltage range of a solar inverter into account.

The system runs on 11 Delta SI 3300 solar inverters with a maximum efficiency of 96%. The maximum system voltage is 1000 V.

The solar modules were mounted using a rack system designed specifically for flat roofs. The racks are made of 100% recycled material (HDPE) and have been TÜV-approved accordingly.

The environmentally friendly company Delta believes in setting a good example and has therefore decided to use a photovoltaic system of its own to provide approximately 7% of the power required annually by the Teningen site.

Delta is using data loggers from Meteocontrol which support PC-based data monitoring and evaluation to permanently monitor power production. Data loggers are able to save all available operating values. The data saved on the data loggers is downloaded via the RS 485 (EIA 485) interface connection and then evaluated on a PC with the aid of additional software applications.
